Winnipeg Manitoba is the best place on
the planet to live...what do you think?
|

Home of the
most famous of all Canadian intersections -
Portage and Main.
|
Winnipeg,
translated from Cree, means "Muddy
Water". Aptly named, as the juncture
of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers occurs
here. The capital of Friendly
Manitoba, is virtually the geographic centre of
Canada.
Manitoba has a
population of approximately 1,000,000 with
close to 700,000 in 'The Peg'.
|
|

|
Home to a
diverse range of cultures, as evident by Folklorama,
the world's largest multicultural event, held
every summer. Visit our Folklorama
Pages. However, other world-class
cultural events also call The 'Peg their home.
Visit Taste
of Manitoba, a food festival, held in
Memorial Park in early summer, to sample some of
the finest cuisine that Manitoba has to offer.
Oktoberfest,
held annually at the Convention Centre is a
great time!
|
|
The 'Peg was
host to the Pan American Games in the summer of
1999. It was awesome! We had a
great time! Check out our Pan
American Games Photos.

For a bit of
history, The
Forks National Historic Site should not be
missed.
You
should visit the Manitoba Museum of Man
and Nature, The Planetarium, and if you have
children (or for your inner child), the Manitoba
Children's Museum.
Visit the
Basilica, the original facade was part of the
oldest Roman Catholic Church in Western
Canada. Awesome
looking churches!
|
|
There's
something to offer every sports fan. The
CFL's Winnipeg
Blue Bombers, The Northern League's Winnipeg
Goldeyes (be sure to check out their new
ball park!), and the IHL's Manitoba
Moose all call "Winterpeg" their
home. Winterpeg also has a large curling
following, and offers over 20 golf courses,
making it the highest per capita golf courses in
North America.
|

|
|

|
The entertainment
scene is as diverse as it's culture.
Home to the RWB, the WSO, the Manitoba Theatre
Centre, Rainbow Stage, Fringe Festival, Prairie
Theatre Exchange, the Manitoba Opera, the
Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Pantages Playhouse
and the WAG, and much more!
|
|
If it's fun
that you're looking for, visit the Red
River Exhibition in late June.
Or check out the International Air show in early
June. For larger-than-life movies,
check out the IMAX Theatre. Relax at any
of our beautiful parks, such as Assiniboine
or Kildonan Parks.
